Koltrast Furniture is a new Swedish furniture producer with aesthetic ambitions and a sustainable vision. Our focus is on well-designed furniture in steel, wood and naturally tanned leather with dynamic proportions and a visually light appearance.
Identity
What causes some furniture to make so much more of an impression than others? Why are some pieces loved year after year, while others go out with the next big cleaning? To be sure, much of it has to do with personal taste. But we also believe that design and materials play a role. Because furniture must be made with expertise and care to be so beloved that it is used and passed down from one generation to the next.
And that is precisely the kind of furniture we want to create. Quality furniture with a clean, classic, timeless look. The highest quality to ensure that time only improves its beauty. Furniture that fits in at home, in public settings, or wherever you want to surround yourself with objects you love.

Forest, leather, steel
Our Scandinavian identity is evident in many ways, but particularly in our choice of materials. We produce furniture inspired by our industrial legacy. Choosing wood feels like a matter of course – after all, we live in a country covered with forest. The durability and elegant appeal of leather – not to mention its classic look – make it a natural choice. And steel offers robust durability and a long lifespan.
Our suppliers combine modern production methods with a multi-year craftsmanship tradition, and they all have ISO-certification.
Swedish manufacturing
Because our furniture is made in Sweden, we have access to craftspeople who know the art of bringing out the best in materials. They know how to combine artisanal expertise with modern production methods. And they know how to make resources last.
Our close proximity to producers lets us avoid long and excessive transports. Close collaboration with our suppliers is a condition for excellent quality throughout the process.
Furniture that lasts
In our world, sustainability means two things: We want our furniture to last so that it can be used for a long time and we want to make it sustainably, using methods that are as good for the environment as possible. This is long-term work and we constantly endeavour to make wise choices and be conscious of resources in all parts of our operation.
Our goal is for each product to serve a purpose and be appreciated by many people, ideally for a long time to come. This allows us to reduce our environmental impact and the need to endlessly consume new products.

Our business concept is to offer architects and design-loving consumers well-designed furniture in steel, wood and leather for home and public settings.

Our design philosophy is based on three core values: simple, authentic and elegant. Our furniture is characterized by an authentic, elegant style with dynamic proportions and a visually light appearance.

Our vision is to create well-designed furniture that people choose to use for a long time. We believe this is an excellent approach from a sustainability perspective.

Education
Master’s degree in industrial design Umeå University Institute of Design, 1997. Construction engineering degree: Stockholm Technical Institute, 1987.
Summary
Industrial designer with experience in transportation and product design. Working as a project leader and lead designer in several projects since 1988, and been responsible for customer and marketing work. Production manager on construction sites. Acting Design Director Volvo Buses 2008/09.

Calm and harmonious expression
Her we have deliberately chosen a subdued, discreet expression where the focus has been on calm, harmonious lines and surfaces. Thanks to the possibilities of 3D veneer, we have been able to create double curved surfaces that provide visual calm.

Blackbird's Nest
Here, our ambition has been to create an armchair with a snug feel in the simplest possible way, inspired by the blackbirds nest. The circle and the asymmetrical stands symbolize the basic shape and parts of the nest. A design that hopefully makes the viewer rest their eyes.
